The Shyft Collective is a youth focused research, strategy and engagement consultancy based in Barbados, an initiative of The Ashley Lashley Foundation. In this notice, we and us mean The Shyft Collective.

What we collect
We collect the information you give us through the forms on this site. We do not collect anything about you when you simply read the site.
Start a Shyft
Your enquiry, the audience and timing you describe, any file or link you attach, and your name, organisation, role, email, phone and country.
Bring Us a Question
Your research question, who you want to hear from, where they are, and your contact details.
Build My Shyft Crew
Event details, dates, crew requirements, and your contact details.
Join the Shyft Crew
Your name, date of birth, location, contact details, skills, availability, documents you upload, and guardian details where you are under 18.
Put It In The Room
What you are testing, who you want reacting to it, timing, contact details and any upload.
Why we hold it
- To reply to your enquiry and scope the work you asked about.
- To match Shyft Crew applicants to paid opportunities.
- To meet our own record keeping and funding obligations.
- To send research and reports from Shyft Lab, only where you opted in.
We hold what you send us because you asked us to respond, or because you applied to join the Shyft Crew. We keep it for the periods set out below, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. This notice is written to meet the Barbados Data Protection Act 2019.
Young people and guardian consent
Where an applicant to the Shyft Crew is under 18, the application cannot be submitted until a parent or guardian has confirmed it. We ask for the guardian's name, relationship, email and phone, and we contact them once to confirm.
We do not share a young person’s application with anyone outside The Shyft Collective without that consent, and we do not use their answers in published research unless they are separately asked and agree.
Who we share it with
- Clients, where you have applied to a crew opportunity and we need to confirm you for that job.
- Formspree, which receives and stores what you send through the forms on this site, including any files you upload, on servers in the United States.
- Vercel, which hosts this website.
- Nobody else, and we never sell your details.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are held for two years from your last contact with us. Shyft Crew profiles are held for two years, then we ask you whether to keep them. Uploaded documents are deleted with the record they belong to.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw consent at any time. Write to data@theashleylashleyfoundation.org and we will respond within 30 days.
Cookies and storage
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. If you start a form and close it before sending, your browser keeps your answers for that session only, so you do not lose them. They are cleared when you send the form or close the browser, and they never leave your device until you press send.
